Burton Leon Reynolds Junior was born on 11 February, 1936, in Waycross, Georgia, USA. He is a famous American actor.
As for his early period, Reynolds attended Palm Beach High School. He was a keen student and in 1954 he graduated from high school. He was a good high school student, and an excellent athlete; he particularly excelled at football, and won a football scholarship to Florida State University. He later went on to become an All Star Southern Conference halfback, and could well have taken up a career as a professional sportsman, but then a knee injury and a car accident ended his football career.
He dropped out college while midway through and headed to New York with dreams of becoming an actor. In New York he worked in restaurants and clubs while pulling the odd TV spot or
theatre role.
Reynolds was spotted in a New York City production of "Mister Roberts" and signed to a TV contract and had roles in shows as “Gunsmoke”,”Riverboat” and his own series, “Hawk” in 1966. In the next following years Reynolds continued to appear in non-demanding western roles. Later on his longtime buddy Nall Needham came to him with a “road film” script. It turned out to be the incredibly popular movie “Smokey and the Bandit”, which took over $100 million at the box office.
In the 1980s he appeared in some very popular TV shows, one of them was “Evening Shade”, for which he won an Emmy.
As for his recent career, Reynolds put in entertaining work in Pups, Mystery Alaska (1999), Maximum Speed (2001) and Time of the Wolf (2002).
