Buddy Adler was born on June 22, 1909 in New York City, New York, United States. He was a famous producer, writer as well as an actor. As a young man he was quite active while writing scripts for short plays and while attended both Columbia and Pennsylvania universities and wrote fiction short stories for magazines prior to becoming involved in the film industry.
In 1936, he achieved his goal after joining the MGM Pictures and during that journey married actress Anita Louise in 1940 and served with the U.S. Army Signal Corps in World War II, attaining the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
After serving in the war he left the Army and joined the industry where he was noticed as a very smart producer and writer. His production involves movies like, "Saturday's Hero", "Last of the Comanches
", "Love Is a Many-Splendored Thing", "Anastasia" ad "A Hatful of Rain". His writing includes movies such as: "Social Sea Lion", "Wedding Bills", "Water Bugs" and "Victory Quiz". During his career he achieved a lot of awards and unfortunately died on July 12, 1960 in Los Angeles, California, United States.
Why was he famous?
He was famous for his production movie, "From Here to Eternity" for which he won an Oscar Award in 1954 for being the Best Motion Picture at the Academy Awards. He won three Laurel Award from 1958 -1960 for being the Best Producer as well as he won the Cecil B. DeMille Award at Golden Globes, USA in 1958.
