Boutros Boutros-Ghali (born in 1922) was a Egyptian diplomat and politician, deputy prime minister 1991-1992.
Short Biography:
He worked towards peace in the Middle East in the foreign ministry posts he held 1977-1991. He became secretary general of the United Nations January 1992.
Since taking office he has encountered a succession of challenges (notably with regard to the role of the UN in conflict areas such as Somalia and Yugoslavia), with which he has dealt with varying success.
