Bob McAllister

Bob McAllister was an American television personality, magician and children's entertainer. He was born on 2 June 1934,in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA. He died on 21 July 1998, New York, USA due to lung cancer
As a teenager, Bob first made his name as a ventriloquist on NBC on the Today Show in the 1950s. In 1953 he appeared on CBS on Ted Mack's Original Amateur Hour. He got his first proper job as host on the show called The "Bob and Chauncey Show" where he was paired up with McAllister,a joke cracking dummy ("Chauncey"). This further excelled bob in his career and got him hired on at WJZ-TV in Baltimore, Maryland in 1963 on The Bob McAllister Show.
This show was a success and finally led to him being brought on the syndicated popular show Wonderama, produced by WNEW-TV, to repla
ce the departing Sonny Fox. Once Bob joined the show,it became Metromedia TV's most watched children's series.
Bob McCallister's last TV show was ABC TV's "Kids Are People Too". He served as the host/performer and interviewer of this series
Why is he famous?
Bob first shot to fame as the host of the children's series "Wonderama" where he worked from 1967 till 1977. He is also famous for his role in the film Herbie Day at Disneyland (1974).
