She attended the Burbank High School. Her parents are actors Ernie Lively and Elaine. She was class president and cheerleader and performed with her national championship show choir during high school.
In 1998 she started her acting career with the role in "Sandman". The roles in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants", "Accepted" and "Gossip Girl" are the ones who made her famous. She received a Teen Choice Award nomination for "Choice Movie Breakout - Female" for her role in "The Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants".
