Beverlee McKinsey was a famous soap opera actress. Beverlee was born as Beverlee Magruder in McAlester, Oklahoma on August 9, 1935. She earned a bachelor's degree in drama from the University of Oklahoma in 1956. She started her career in off Broadway theater and in the 1960s made guest appearances on many TV shows, including "Mannix," "Hawaii Five-O" and "McMillan & Wife." In 1970 Beverlee landed her first contract for the role of Julie Richards on Love is a Many Splendored Thing. She then made a brief appearance as Emma Frame in the series Another World in 1972. Her impressive performance got her a permanent part as the manipulative Iris Carrington on the show.
This character became a true signature role for McKinsey and she played it well for the following 8 years. Beverlee went on
to play more roles, her standout role being that of Alexandra Spaulding on Guiding Light from February 1984 until August 1992. McKinsey passed away on May 2, 2008 due to complications resulting from a kidney transplant.
