
Betty Friedan (1921-2006) was an American liberal feminist.

Her book The Feminine Mystique in 1963 was one of the most influential books for the women's movement in both the USA and the UK.
She founded the National Organization for Women (NOW) in 1966, the National Women's Political Caucus in 1971, the First Women's Bank in 1973, and called the First International Feminist Congress in 1973.
