Bette Midler was born on December 1, 1945 in Honolulu, Hawaii, USA. She is an actress and singer also known as The Divine Miss M.
Biography and Career :
She attended the Radford High School, Honolulu, Hawaii and the University of Hawaii at Manoa. In 1965 she moved to New York. She performed in the off-Broadway plays Miss Nefertiti Regrets and Cinderella Revisited. After five years she started singing at Continental Baths and Barry Manilow, the pianist there, produced her first album.
In 1972 she released her debut album called "The Divine Miss M". After another two years she won the Special Tony Award for her contribution to Broadway for her Clams on the Half Shell Revue at the Palace Theater. She continued releasing albums, having a great success and being an actress too.H
er talent and hard work were awarded with four Grammy Awards, an Emmy Award and a Tony Award and she has also been nominated for two Academy Awards.
She likes to help people around and the environment and in 1995 she created the New York Restoration Project (NYRP), which is a non-profit organization with the goal of revitalizing neglected neighborhood parks in economically disadvantaged neighborhoods of New York City. Her organization offers in-school and after-school environmental education programming to students from high-poverty schools.
On December 16, 1984 she married Martin von Haselberg and they have one child, Sophie von Haselberg who was born in 1986.
