Beth Gibbons was born on January 4, 1965 in Exeter, Devon, UK. She is a singer and vocalist of Portishead, an English trip-hop band.

Biography and Career :

She and Geoff Barrow, another member of Portishead, met at a government business start-up scheme. The other members that worked at the albums are jazz guitarist Adrian Utley, sessioners John Baggott, Jim Barr and Clive Deamer. They were successful, their albums were selling good and artists like Dr. Dre and Robert Plant admired their work. She was also involved in other projects one of them being along Paul Webb, also known as Rustin' Man.

Her solo album was released in 2002 in the United Kingdom and one year later, in 2003 in the United States. She sings like Edith Piaf because of her heavy smoking habit. Her fans love the music she sings, love her and her work and are listening to her albums. They can't wait to listen to her new songs.

During the years she had songs on other's band or artists albums: "Orang" in .O.rang's album Herd of Instinct, "Jalap" in .O.rang's album Fields and Waves, "Lonely Carousel" in Rodrigo Leao's album Cinema, "Strange Melody" in Jane Birkin's album Rendez-Vous, "Killing Time" in Joss Stone's Mind, Body & Soul and "Stranger In This Land" in Fried's album Fried.
