Ben Harper (birth name Benjamin Chase Harper) was born on October 28, 1969 in Claremont, California, USA. He is a singer, guitarist and songwriter.

Biography and Career :

His parents have another two sons, Joel and Peter Harper, besides him. Since he was a child he loved music and started playing the guitar. He signed a contract with Virgin Records and in 1992 released his debut album called "Pleasure and Pain". Between 1994 and 2007 he released another ten albums. They all had a great success worldwide. His singles entered the charts quickly and he soon became a famous musician.

In 2003 at the Rolling Stone Award Show he won the Artist of the Year title. Two years later at the Grammy Award he won the Grammy Award for Best Pop Instrumental Performance and for Best Traditi onal Soul Gospel Album. His talent was awarded and also his work. Some of his singles are "Ground On Down", "Faded", "Burn To Shine", "With My Own Two Hands", "Better Way" or "Fight Outta You".

In 1996 he got married for the first time. His bride was Joanna, but the couple divorced in 2001. They have two children: one son, Charles James and one daughter, Harris. On December 23, 2005 he married Laura Dern, who is an actress. They had been together for five years before marring. The couple has two children: one girl, Jaya and one boy, Ellery Walker.
