Ben Affleck (full name Benjamin Geza Affleck) was born on August 15, 1972 in Berkeley, California. His father works in a Drug rehabilitation hospital in California and his mother is aTeacher in Cambridge. His younger brother (and only sibling), Casey, is also anactor and co-starred with Ben in Good Will Hunting.

Biography and Career :

When Ben Affleck was very young his family relocated to the Boston area. This is wherehe broke into acting. At the age of eight he starred in PBS’s marine biology-themed''The Voyage of the Mimi.''

Ben Affleck also struck up a friendship with Matt Damon, a boy twoyears older than himself who lived down the street. After Graduating high school the young Affleck dabbled in higher education at boththe University of Vermont and California’s Occide ntal College. Ben Affleck found it all toorestricting and opted to give Hollywood a try.

Ben Affleck landed parts in made-for-TV moviesand had a small role in ''School Ties'' in 1992 which also featured Matt Damon. Benfollowed with work in ''Dazed and Confused'' (1993), and ''Mallrats'' in 1995.

Ben Affleck and his friend, Matt Damon won an Academy Award for the screenplay of "Good Will Hunting".

Having previously dated Gwyneth Paltrow, Ben Affleck was engaged to Jennifer Lopez in 2002, but they split up in 2004.

Ben Affleck married Jennifer Garner in the Turks and Caicos Islands in the Caribbean, on June 30 2005.

Ben Affleck and Garner had appeared together in Daredevil. At the end of November 2005 they had a baby.

Before the success of "Good Will Hunting" in 1997 Affleck appeared mainly in independent films, for example, in Kevin Smith's "Mallrats" (1995) and "Chasing Amy" (1997). Since then Ben Affleck has acted in such films as "Shakespeare in Love" (1998), "Armageddon" (1998), and "Pearl Harbor" (2001).

Ben Affleck is an accomplished poker player, winnning the California State Poker Championship Sunday, thereby picking up $356,400.

According to Inside the Actors Studio, Ben Affleck owns 5 motorcycles, and is an avid collector of vintage video-arcade machines.
