Rebecca Sara "Becki" Newton is a stunning and charismatic American actress. Becki was born in New Heaven, Connecticut on July 4th 1978.
Biography and Career:
She studied at University of Pennsylvania graduating with a BA in European History. She is of English Descent. While attending college she performed musicals and plays at local theatres. She speaks fluent German, Spanish and Greek.
After completing college she moved to New York City to pursue Broadway and began her career by doing various TV commercials for Olive Gardens in which she appeared as a brunette waitress and hosted the short-lived TBS celebrity-interview show "Movie Junky" before graduating to prime-time guest spots. Her career in big screen began in 2004. She has done two movies, one in 2004 "P.S." and an
other in 2007 "August Rush". Initially she appeared as a guest in various television sitcoms like "Cold Chase" and "Guiding light" in 2004, In episodes 22, 23 and 24 as Lily in "The Men’s room", as Erin in "David Sheridan Show". She has also made special appearances in "American Dreams", "Law and Order: Special victims unit" and her best achievement in 2004 was she hosted a TV show known as "Burly TV". In 2005 she again appeared as a guest celebrity in "Charmed".
However, her big official break was when she bagged the role of Amanda Tanen for the television sitcom "Ugly Betty". She plays the lead role in this one from 2006 to 2010 i.e. she appeared in four seasons. The fifth season is in making. For this role she received a Best Supporting Actress in a Comedy Series nomination at the Emmy Awards in 2007.
Newton will star in upcoming television series "Love Bites". This is an hour long romantic comedy and produced by Cindy Chupack.
She met her husband Chris Diamantopoulos on the sets of "American Dreams" in 2004. On 1st July 2010 it was announced that the couple are expecting their first baby. She has a brother Matt Newton who is also an Actor.
