Initially Bebe's interest on mental health of Children which led her to write her first children's book, "Sometimes My Mommy Gets Angry" which won the "National Alliance for the Mentally Ill (NAMI) Outstanding Literature Award" in 2003.
She also wrote other books on mental illnesses, which includes, "Even with the Madness" and "72 Hour Hold".
Bebe has also done journalism for magazines like: "The New York Times Magazine", "The Washington Post", the "Los Angeles Times", "Essence" and "Ebony".
She was married to Ellis Gordon Jr and had two children . At the age of 56 she died from br
ain cancer on November 27, 2006 in Los Angeles, California.
