Baldassare Castiglione, Count Castiglione (1478-1529) was a Italian author and diplomat, who described the perfect Renaissance gentieman in "Il Cortegiano" (The Courtier) in 1528.
Short Biography:
Born near Mantua, Castiglione served the Duke of Milan, and in 1506 was engaged by the Duke of Albino on a mission to Henry VII of England.
While in Spain in 1524 he was created bishop of Avila.
