The Backstreet Boys are a pop band from the USA , came together in the state of Orlando, Florida in the year of 1993.
Career:
They initially consisted of A. J. McLean, Howie Dorough, Brian Littrell, Nick Carter, and Kevin Richardson. Richardson decided to leave the band the year 2006 as he had other interests, leaving the boys as a four-piece, but the rest of them did not rule the singer returnin in some time. The band rose to fame with their first album, Backstreet Boys in the year 1996. They followed it up with Backstreet's Back in 1997 and then went on to build success all over the world. Superstardom came through their third album Millennium in the year 1999 and Black & Blue in 2000. Then followed a hiatus till the the release of their three albums: Never Gone (2005), Un
breakable (2007) and This Is Us (2009).
The band have have generated sales of over 130 million records all over the world. This makes them the highest selling “Boy” band of all time. Billboard claims that they are the first group since Sade to have their first seven albums reach the top 10 on the chart.
Their first song that was aired on radio and released was "We've Got It Goin' On". This was aired to radio in August and released as a song single on September 5, 1995. It was a small success in the country achieving only a top of #69. However it enjoyed successful stint in the Europe achieving a top 5 in Germany, Switzerland, Austria, France and the Netherlands. This success prompted a summer tour and their promotions being done a lot in Europe.
Sony released a second Backstreet Boys greatest hits album on January 26, 2010 titled Playlist: The Very Best of the Backstreet Boys and is part of a series of similar Playlist albums issued by Sony Legacy. On November 8, 2010, it was confirmed that they were planning to have a joint tour with New Kids on the Block in 2011.
