Biography and Career:
Audie Murphy was born on June 20, 1926 in Kingston, Hunt County, Texas. He was an American soldier and an actor.
Audie Murphy was the son of Emmett Berry and Josie Bell Murphy. He belonged to the Irish descent. He was brought up between Farmersville and Greenville, as well as near Celeste, Texas. He was the sixth child out of twelve. He studied till the eighth grade in Celeste. He dropped out from school to help his family and he started working for one dollar per day. He used plow and pick up cotton. He became talented in rifle, hunting to help his family with food. He worked at a combination general store cum garage and filling station in Greenville, Texas. He worked in a radio repair shop when he was 15 years old. His mother died on 23rd May 1941.
After the Pearl Harbor was attacked on 7th December 1941 he tried to register himself in the army but he was rejected because he was under age. He was rejected by the Marines and the paratroopers for being too short and small built, but he was accepted by the United States Army at Greenville. For the basic training he was sent to Camp Wolters, Texas. After he completed basic training for 13 weeks he was sent to the Fort Meade, Maryland for advanced infantry training.
James Cagney requested him to come to Hollywood in September 1945 after he saw his photo on the cover page of Life Magazine in the 16th July edition. He did small roles in movies like Beyond Glory and Texas and Brooklyn and Heaven in 1948. He then acted in the movie Bad Boy in which he played the main role. He also acted in the version of Stephen Crane's Civil War novel, The Red Badge of Courage in 1951. He also acted in the movie No Name on the Bullet in 1959.
