Atahualpa (c. 1502-1533) was the last emperor of the Incas of Peru. Short Biography:
He was taken prisoner in 1532 when the Spaniards arrived, and agreed to pay a huge ransom, but was accused of plotting against the conquistador Pizarro and sentenced to be burned.
On his consenting to Christian baptism, the sentence was commuted to strangulation.
