Sir Arthur Stanley Eddington (1882-1944) was a British astrophysicist, who studied the motions and equilibrium of stars, their luminosity and atomic structure, and became a leading exponent of Einstein's relativity theory.
Short Biography:
In 1919 his observation of stars during an eclipse of the sun confirmed Einstein's prediction that light is bent when passing near the Sun.
In The Expanding Universe in 1933 he expressed the theory that the galaxies are receding from one another.
