Artemisia Gentileschi (1593 - c. 1652) was an Italian painter, born in Rome.
Short Biography:
She trained under her father Orazio Gentileschi, but her work is more melodramatic than his.
She settled in Naples from about 1630, and focused on macabre and grisly subjects such as Judith Decapitating Holofemes (Museo di Capodimonte, Naples).
