Biography and Career :
José Antonio Banderas was born in Málaga, Andalusia, Spain on August 10, 1960 to parents Ana Banderas, a school teacher, and José Domínguez, a police officer in the Guardia Civil and he has a younger brother, Francisco. He took his mother's surname for a stage name. He initially wanted to be a soccer player, but his dream ended when he broke his leg at age 14.
He has voiced Puss in Boots in "Shrek 2" and "Shrek the Third" and the last film in the Shrek franchise, "Shrek Forever After" which made the character popular on the family film circuit. He is set to be the protagonist of the Shrek spin-off movie
"Puss in Boots: The Story of an Ogre Killer" that is said to be released on November 4, 2011. In 2005, he resumed his role as Zorro in "The Legend of Zorro", although this was not as successful as "The Mask of Zorro".
In 2006, he starred in "Take the Lead", a high school-set movie in which he had the role of a ballroom dancing teacher. That year, he directed his second movie "El camino de los ingleses", in English called "Summer Rain", and also got the L.A.
Latino International Film Festival's "Gabi" Lifetime Achievement Award on 14 October. He hosted the 600th episode of "Saturday Night Live" meaning 31 seasons. He gave voice to a computer-animated bee which can be seen in the U.S. in T.V commercials for Nasonex, an allergy medication, and was been seen in a British retailer the 2007 Christmas advertising campaign for Marks & Spencer.
