Anna Kay Faris was born in Baltimore, Maryland on November 29, 1976, by parents Karen, a former special education instructor, and a sociologist who worked at the University of Washington and head of the Washington Biotechnology and Biomedical Association, named Jack Faris.
She has a brother, Robert, who is also a sociologist and a teacher at the University of California. Anna Faris grew up in Edmonds, Washington and her parents encouraged her to pursue acting when she was young, and she first performed at the age 9, at the Seattle Repertory Theater.
