Angus Young was born on March 31, 1955 in Glasgow, Scotland. He is a Scottish born Australian musician, lead guitarist and songwriter.
Angus Young was born in Glasgow, Scotland. He is the son of William and Margaret Young. In 1963 he shifted with his parents to Sydney, Australia. He first started playing the banjos but re-strung them with 6 strings. His mother bought him a second
hand acoustic model on which he started playing. His first second has Gibson SG was bought in 1970.
He played for the band Kantuckee when he was a teenager. In 1973 he and his brother formed the AD/DC. He was 18 years old he started AD/DC. He was the lead guitarist, Malcolm on rhythm guitar, Colin Burgess on drums, Larry Van Kriedt on bass guitar and Dave Evans on vocals. There first solo song "Can I Sit next To You Girl" was re-recorded with Bon Scott as their singer. He received the Kerrang! Magazine's Legend Award from the editor, Paul Brannigan on 24th August 2006.
Throughout his career he used Gibson SGs in many forms. He also used the Jaydee SG, a modified version of the SG in many occasions. He has collaborated with Gibson Guitar Corporation to form the Angus Young Signature. He uses the Marshall model 1959 100 watt Super Lead Plexi heads and model 1960 AX and BX 4x12 cabinets with Celestion G12M "Greenbacks". In his studios he has used the JMP 50 and JTM 45 heads. His energetic guitar style has been a pressure on many young hard rock guitarists.
