When she was 16 she started to answer hot lines at the urban radio station Hot 97. After this she advanced and finally managed to obtain the Angie Martinez Show which soon became very popular. She was very successful as a radio person and soon she became an actress too. In 2002 she became the host of "Stretch" on HBO. She had roles in movies like "Blood is Thicker Than Water", "Paper Soldiers", "Brown Sugar" and "State Property 2".
Her career as a musician started in 1996 when she was encouraged to appear on KRS-One’s album. In 2001 and 2002 released her own albums, "Up Close and Personal" and "Animal House". She d
id collaborations with famous artists and her singles were entered the charts quickly. Her fans were excited that their idol started a singing career too.
