Biography and career:
Andrew Ross Sorkin was born in 1977. He completed his graduation in 1995 from Scarsdale High School. In 1999 he got his Bachelor of Science degree from the Cornell University. During his senior year in high school he joined The Times as a student intern. When he was college he worked for the paper and published 71 articles before he completed his graduation.
When he was assisting Stuart Elliott, The Times advertising columnist he started by writing media and technology articles. Before he joined The Times again he worked for Business Week in 1996. In 1998 he went to London where he wrote about European business and technology for The
Times.
In 1999 he joined The Times as the newspaper's European mergers and acquisitions reporter, based in London. The next year he became The Times' chief mergers and acquisitions reporter, based in New York. He started his financial news website and email newsletter DealBook.
He has written nearly 2000 articles for The Times, including nearly 120 front-page articles and about 150 DealBook columns. He has broken news of most important amalgamations and purchase, including Chase's acquisition of J.P. Morgan and Hewlett-Packard's acquisition of Compaq.
He also broke the news of I.B.M.'s sale of its PC business to Lenovo, Johnson & Johnson's $25 billion acquisition of Guidant and Symantec's $13 billion deal for Veritas Software. He also reported on the Wall Street financial crisis, including the collapse of Bear Stearns and Lehman Brothers.
He also reported about the government bailout of the other major investment banks and AIG. He also wrote about the troubled American auto industry.
