Anastasio Somoza Debayle (1925-1980) was a Nicaraguan soldier and politician, president 1967-1972 and 1974-1979.
Short Biography:
The second son of Anastasio Somoza Garcia, he succeeded his brother Luis Somoza Debayle (1922-1967; president 1956-1963) as president of Nicaragua in 1967, to head an even more oppressive regime. He was removed by Sandinista guerrillas in 1979, and assassinated in Paraguay in 1980.
