Amy Wynn Pastor was born and brought up in Philadelphia, PA, United States. She is the daughter of Brian Pastor, a professional trombone player and Barbara Pastor, a teacher. She has been brought up in a conservative Jewish family.

As a child she has appeared in many advertisements. She completed her graduation in 1999 from the Pennsylvania State University and she has majored in theatre. She played the role of a carpenter on TLC's new reality show, Trading Spaces.

She has also proved that she is a good poker player in a match between cast members and Trading Spaces and American Chopper on the World Poker Tour.

She has also published a book on carpentry titled "Yes, You can: Home Repairs Made Easy", with Ken Sidey published by Meredith Books in 2005.
