Amisha Patel was born on June 9, 1976, in Mumbai, India. Her grandfather, Rajni Patel, was a freedom fighter. She completed her high school in Mumbai and graduated in economics in Massachusetts in 1997.

After returning back to India, Amisha developed an active interest in acting. She joined a theater group to portray her creativity. She got her big break in 2000 when she was approached by Rakesh Roshan for acting in the lead role for the movie “Kaho Naa... Pyaar Hai” opposite Hrithik Roshan. The film was a big hit and made the young actress famous in her first movie.

After this she did one film after the other – “Yeh Zindagi Ka Safar”, “Badri”, “Kya Yehi Pyaar Hai”, “Kranti”. But these efforts went almost unnoticed unt il her next big bash, “Gadar: Ek Prem Katha”. Starring Sunny Deol, the movie topped the charts for a long time and put Amisha Patel in the lead among Bollywood actresses.
Amisha’s next ventures were “Humraaz” and “Yeh Hai Jalwa”. Both the movies received moderate success. Her next movies received depressingly poor response but that didn’t harm her spirits.

In 2007, Amisha was back in the news with her role in “Bhool Bhulaiyaa”, opposite Akshay Kumar. The movie directed by Priyadarshan received huge response and produced a chart topping title track.
Amisha’s next film is Sriram Raghavan’s “Happy Birthday”.
