Biography and Career :
At the age of three her parents moved to Toronto where she spent most of her youth. Amanda Tapping has three brothers, two older than her, and one twin brother.
When Amanda Tapping went to high school she became interested in arts and she won the Dramatic Arts Award and Environmental Science Award. Later AmanAmanda Tapping da studied drama at the University of Windsor School of Dramatic Arts, in Ontario. After graduation she spent four more years studying theatre and appearing in several stage productions.
Amanda Tapping vowed never to do television. But after a few months she got herself an agen
t and also her first commercial, several more commercials followed.
With the income from her commercials, Amanda Tapping financed the comedy troup Random Acts in which she performed with two other women. The comedy troup split up for a few years, but is now "back in business." " Amanda Tapping has appeared in TV shows like The X-Files, Millenium, Due South, Flash Forward… and she has had many roles and cameos in movies like The Void, Life or Something Like it and the miniseries Earthsea.
In 2004 Amanda Tapping made her debute as a director in Stargate SG-1 with the episode Resurrection and started her first year as the host of Proof Positive, Evidence of the Paranormal on SciFi channel.
