Amanda Seyfried (full name Amanda Louise Seyfried) was born on December 3, 1985, in Allentown, Pennsylvania. She wanted to be a meteorologist but, later on, wanted to be an actress.
Her first modelling job was for Mizz Magazine. During this time, she also learnt singing and performed in theatres, including the plays A Christmas Carol and Grease. Her first TV appearance was in a small role in the show The Guiding Light. Then, she got a better role in the series As The World turns as Lucie Montgomery in 2000. Two years later, she got another role in the TV show All My Children.
In 2004, she was cast in the movie Mean Girls as Karen. The movie became a hit and also won an MTV Movie Award. The same year, she acted as Lily in the series Veronica Mars. Later on, she also acted in TV series
like CSI and House M.D. A couple of movies, American Gun and Alpha Dog, also increased her portfolio.
In 2006, she appeared in the show Wildfire and then on Big Love on HBO. She also got a prominent role in the hit movie Mamma Mia! which gave her some good publicity.
