Alston Purvis was born 1943. He is an American artist, designer, professor and an author.
He was a Lecturer in Royal Academy of Arts. During his career, he has written and published books such as: "Dutch Graphic Design", "Megg's History of Graphic Design" and "Jan Tschichold".
At present Purvis is the Chairman of "Graphic Design Department" in Boston University College of Fine Arts.
