Alona Bondarenko was born on August 13, 1984 in Kryvyi Rih, Ukraine. She is a professional tennis player as well as her sister, Kateryna Bondarenko.
Biography and Career :
She started her career as a child. Until now (2007) she has won five titles as a single player and nine titles as a doubles player, especially on clay.
The tournaments won were at Fontanafredda, Zhukovskiy, Bari, Orange and Luxembourg after beating in the final players like Mara Santangelo, Olga Savchuk, Katerina Bondarenko, Yvonne Meusburger and Francesca Schiavone.
* In 2005 she played for the first time in her career at a Grand Slam tournament. It was the Australian Open but, unfortunately, she lost in the first round to Elena Dementieva from Russia. In the same year she played at Wimbledon and l
ost in the third round. In 2007 she had the same performances there. At the US Open she lost in the second round in 2006.
* In 2007 she participated at the Australian Open where lost in the third round and at the French Open where was defeated in the second round.
* In May 2006 she won a doubles tournament at Istanbul on clay. Her partner was Anastasiya Yakimova from Belarus and they beat the team of Sania Mirza and Alicia Molik with the score 6-2 6-4.
Her highest position in Top 100 was 22 and was reached in July 2006. She is still training hard and dreaming to become a champion one day. Even if she has won only $856,279 until now she is confident and hopes to win many tournaments from now on.
