Alicia Molik was born on January 27, 1981 in Adelaide, Australia. She is a talented tennis player.

Biography and Career :

In 1996 she became a professional tennis player and starting that year she has won five WTA single titles, ten ITF single titles, seven WTA doubles titles and eight ITF doubles titles and also one bronze medal. In 2004 at the Athens Olympic she has won a single bronze medal. After one year at the Australian Open she and her partner Svetlana Kuznetsova won the doubles title. In that year she reached the single quarter-finals at that Grand Slam tournament, but was eliminated by Lindsay Davenport.

She had to take a break at the end of the year 2005 because of an ear infection vestibular neuronitis. The five WTA tournaments that she won were conquered at Ho bart, Stockholm, Zurich, Luxembourg and Sydney. Her opponents in the finals were Amy Frazier, Tatiana Perebiynis, Maria Sharapova, Dinara Safina and Samantha Stosur. In 2003 she played two finals, one at Sarasota where lost to Anastasia Myskina and the other at Budapest, losing to Magui Serna. At the tournament in Vienna in 2004 she played the final against Anna Smashnova, but unfortunately didn't win. After one year at Doha she lost the final to Maria Sharapova.

Besides the doubles Australian Open title she has another Grand Slam title, also as a doubles player. In May 2007 she won the French Open as a doubles player along Mara Santangelo. Their opponents were Katarina Srebotnik and Ai Sugiyama, and the match ended with the score 7-6(5), 6-4. She is a capable tennis player and with many chances to win many matches and titles. If her training will continue and she will remain focused she can be a real champion.
