Biography and Career:
Alicia Goranson was born and brought up in Evanston, Illinois. She is the daughter of a person who works for the EPA and her mother is a high school English teacher. When she was 14 years old she acted as Becky Conner in the television series Roseanne, which was a huge success in 1988.
She departed from the series in 1992 to pursue an education at Vassar College, though her program ultimately allowed her to continue appearing part-time as Becky. According to the new arrangement, the show's producers and writers had to take care to write scenes for Becky carefully. Her exit resulted in Becky's absconding with her husband, Mark Healy, which was played by Glenn Q
uinn. Her character would be seen via the phone briefly on some junctures as she lived out of state. In the next season, though not at the beginning, the producers decided to bring the character back. She was still engaged, so Sarah Chalke was brought into her role.
When the show reached its eighth season, she coped with schedule things so that she could work as Becky, replacing Chalke. She appeared constantly at the beginning but mid-season it became a problem. On two occasions, she had to come out of episodes Becky was intended to appear in, so Chalke took over the role once again. These episodes include the family visit to Walt Disney World and Darlene and David's wedding, episodes in which Becky was needed. She appeared once again towards the end of the season; however, she decided not to continue following the end of the eighth season. For the ninth and final year, she did not return to the show as Becky Conner Healy, leaving the role to Sarah Chalke for the final season.
Right from Roseanne, she has performed small roles in films and has given guest appearance in Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Sex and the City and Fringe. In her film roles as an adult, she is usually credited as Alicia rather than Lecy. Alicia is currently living in the Carroll Gardens section of Brooklyn, NY and will be playing the role of "Sandra" in "The Extra Man" (2010) (post-production).
