Ali Daei was born on March 21, 1969 in Ardabil, Iran. He was a football player and now is coach.
Biography and Career :
He attended the Sharif University of Technology. At the age of nineteen he started playing for Esteghlal Ardabil, his hometown club. The next season he was the player of Taxirani F.C and scored for them fourteen goals. Between 1990 and 1994 he played for Bank Tejarat FC. The next two years he was playing for Persepolis where in 38 games scored 23 times.
The 1996/97 season he was the player of Al-Sadd, 1997/98 of Arminia Bielefeld and 1998/99 of Bayern Munich. During these three years he marked another 23 goals. He remained in Europe after leaving Bayern, but at Hertha Berlin. The three years spent there weren't too great and in 59 matches he scored only si
x times. Returning to Middle East he played for Al-Shabab. He scored 11 times in 25 matches.
The season 2003/04 was spent at Persepolis and it was great for him because in 24 games he managed to score 16 times. Between 2004 and 2006 he was the player of Saba Battery. He was used pretty often by his coach and in 51 matches had 23 goals. In 2006 he was transferred to Saipa where in 26 matches scored ten times. Later he became the coach of this team. Between 1993 and 2006 he had played for his national team. In 149 matches scored 109 goals.
He is a great player and appeared in the UNICEF commercials along David Beckham and Madeleine Albright. In 2005 he married a former classmate from the University.
