Ali Allawi was a Minister of Trade and Minister of Defense in the cabinet by the Interim Iraq Governing Council from September 2003 till 2004. He did his MBA from Harvard Business School and also stayed as a Professor at the Oxford University.
In January 2007 Allawi published an article outlining a blueprint for peace in Iraq. This article was praised by commentator Patrick Cockburn, who argued that it was "by far the most perceptive analysis of the extent of disaster in his country, and how it might best be resolved".

Why is he famous?

Allawi is son of Ahmed Chalabi's sister, who was interim oil minister in Iraq, so that makes him nephew of Chalabi.
