Alexandre Dumas Alexandre Dumas was born on April 24, 1802 in Villers-Cotterets, Aisne France. He was a famous French writer.

Biography and Career :

He was the son of Republican general Thomas Alexandre Dumas Davy de La Pailleterie. He attends classes of Primary School in Villers-Cotterets between 1811-1813.

He worked in the bureaus of some notaries because was very poor after his father died in 1806. In 1819 Alexandre Dumas met Adolphe de Leuven who initiated him in the art of modern poetry and would whom wrote some theatre plays.

Alexandre Dumas went to Paris in 1823 and worked in the Secretary of duke d'Orleans. He continued his studies and discovered the literature life in Paris.
On July 1824 was born Alexandre Dumas the son, his son, whose mother is Cathrine Labay.

In February 1829 at French Comedy it was played "Henric the 3rd and his Court" which was very appreciated and also met Victor Hugo.

In 1831 there were played "Napoleon" and "Anthony" which is considered the biggest literature event of that time.

In 1837 he was named knight of the Honour Legion and in 1838 appeared his first novel "Capitan Paul" but his first success would appear in 1842 "Knight d'Harmental".

Between 1844-1845 appeared his greatest novels: "The Three Musketeers", "After 20 years", "The Count of Monte Cristo", "The Regent's Daughter" and "Queen Margot".

He participated in 1848 in the revolution and published "The Vicomte de Bragelonne" .

In 1850 he wrote "The Black Tulip" and in 1853 he founded the newspaper "Le Mousquetaire" which ended his activity in 1857 when Dumas founded another one "Le Monte-Cristo".

In 1860 he met Garibaldy in Sicily and publiched "Memoires of Garibaldy".
He suffers a vascular accident in September 1870 and on the 5th of December died.
