Alexandra Maria Lara was born on November 12, 1978, in Bucharest, Romania. Her father Valentin Platareanu, is a famous actor in Romania. In 1982, she moved to West Germany with her parents at the age of 4.
Young Alexandra was always interested in acting and she also acted in a few roles in her teenage. In 1994, Alexandra Maria Lara made her TV debut with the series “Stella Stellaris”. After completing high school, she was a student of her father’s institute Theaterwerkstatt Charlottenburg till 2000.
In 2001, Alexandra acted in the movie "Der Tunnel" which gave her cross-border popularity. Following this success, she appeared in the famous series "Napoléon" in 2002. It was her first non-German feature. That same yea
r, Alexandra Maria Lara appeared in the movie “Doctor Zhivago”. She also appeared in the German movie “Nackt” in 2002.
In 2004, she got a major role in the “Der Untergang” where she played the role of Traudl Junge. The movie went on to bag an Oscar nomination.
In 2005, Alexandra was appointed as a jury at the Transylvanian Film Festival.
2007 saw her in a handful of English movies like “I Really Hate My Job”, “Youth Without Youth” and “Control”.
