Alesha Dixon (full name Alesha Anjanette Dixon) was born on October 7, 1978, in Hertfordshire, England.
Biography and Career:
She got interested in the sound of pop music when she was a teenager. But owing to the poor financial condition of her family, she was unable to enter a music school. However, Alesha managed this gap by forming a club for students where the members gave musical lessons to each other.
She was teaching at the Loughborough University, Leicester, when she got the offer to form a girl band. During the next few years, she tried somehow to sync her musical and teaching career. She did not have any development until 1999 when she met Sabrina Washington. The duo grouped together and recorded a pop demo. Next came Elise Nash and Zena McNally, and the four tog
ether formed the band Mis-Teeq. They soon began recording their maiden album.
In 2001, Zena McNelly announced that she was quitting the band. Still, Mis-Teeq released their debut album "Lickin' on Both Sides" in October, 2001 and sold over 600,000 copies in the UK. Particularly, the tracks "All I want" and "Why?" from the album became hits. Next, they released two more singles which sold equally well. Two years, later, in 2003, they released their second effort under the title of "Eye Candy". With this they managed to get a nice grip on the North American market.
However, after the release of a last compilation of their greatest hits, Mis-Teeq announced that they were breaking-up in 2005.
But the spirits of Alesha Dixon were not drowned. She released her solo album "Fired Up" in August, 2006, under the label of Polydor Records. The first track from the album "Lipstick" reached #14 on the singles chart in the United Kingdom. Later on, she tied up with Victor Records of Japan and released her "Fired Up" in Asia in February, 2008.
