Biography and Career:
Alec Baldwin was born in Amityville, New York. He is the son of Carolyn Newcomb and Alexander Rae Baldwin Jr., a high school history, social studies teacher and a football coach. He was brought up in a Catholic family of Irish, English and French descent. He went to the Alfred G. Berner High School in Massapequa, Long Island. When he was in school he played football under Coach Bob Reifsnyder. He also worked at the famous New York City disco Studio 54. From 1976 to 1979 he studied at George Washington University. He then went to New York University to study acting at the Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. He went back to New York in 1994 and co
mpleted his graduation in BFA the same year.
He made his debut in theatre plays in 1986. His debut play was revival of Joe Orton's Loot with famous theatre actors like Zoe Wanamaker, Željko Ivanek, Joseph Maher and Charles Keating. After 3 months the production house closed. His other theatre plays are Caryl Churchill's Serious Money with Kate Nelligan, Tennessee Williams' A Streetcar Named Desire and many more. He played the main role in Macbeth in 1998 with Angela Bassett and Liev Schreiber. This production was directed by George C. Wolfe. He also acted in a revival of Twentieth Century with Anne Heche in 2004.
He was the host of "The New York Philharmonic This Week," the nationally broadcast radio series of the New York Philharmonic on 12th January 2009. His first major role was as Billy Aldrich in the daytime soap opera "The Doctors" from 1980 to 1982.
