Agustin Calleri was born on September 14, 1976 in Rio Cuarto, Argentina. He is a tennis player.
Biography and Career :
In 1995 he turned a professional tennis player after starting his career at an early age. Francisco Yunis is the person who takes care of his training, goes with him at all the tournaments and also his coach. Until now (2007) he has won two single tournaments and two doubles tournaments. As a doubles player he won the titles at the tournaments in Vigna del Mar, Chile in 2003 and in Basel, Switzerland in 2005. At the last tournament his partner was Fernando Gonzi¡lez from Chile.
In March 2003 at Acapulco he won the final against Mariano Zabaleta with the score 7-5 3-6 6-3. In 2006 at Kitzbi¼hel he played the final and beat his opponent, Juan Ignacio Chela,
after a match ended with the score 7-6(9) 6-2 6-3. Before the final he beat players like Nicolas Massu, Gaston Gaudio and Fernando Verdasco. The two single titles were won on clay.
Between 2002 and 2006 he played another six single finals, but lost them all.They were played at the tournaments in Buenos Aires, Estoril, Hamburg, Costa Do Sauipe, Amersfoort and New Haven and his opponents were Nicolas Massu, Nikolay Davydenko, Guillermo Coria, Gustavo Kuerten and Fernando Gonzalez. In 2003 and 2006 he reached the second round at Wimbledon. The same performance was obtained in 2001, 2004 and 2005 at the Australian Open.
In 2003 at the French Open and US Open he managed to reach the third round. This represents his best performance at a Grand Slam tournament. He is talented and had important victories on clay. Let's hope that we will see him on court for a long time.
