Biography and Career:
Adam Ant was born in Marylebone, London. He is the son of Leslie Goddard who worked as a chauffeur and Kathleen Smith who worked as a domestic cleaner for Paul McCartney. He went to the Robinsfield Infants School and St Marylebone Grammar School. After passing out from school with "A" levels he joined the famous Hornsey College of Art to learn graphic designing. Later he dropped out from Hornsey College of Art and did B.A. to concentrate on music.
Adam Ant first joined the Bazooka Joe. In this band he played the bass. Soon he left the band and formed a band called B-Sides which never performed any show. Due to a nervous breakdown because of which he attempted suic
ide he was hospitalized and treated. After his discharge from the hospital he changed his name Adam Ant. After seeing the performance of Siouxise & the Banshees at the Vortex club in London's Covent Garden he formed the Adam and Ants band in 1977.
During the 1980's he started acting in movies and TV series. He has starred in Joe Orton's "Entertaining Mr. Sloane. He played the main role in Steven Berkoff's play Greek which was directed by Bruce Payne. He was also seen on the American television shows like "The Equalizer", "Sledge Hammer", "Tales from the Crypt" and "Northern Exposure". He also acted in movies like Nomads and Slamdance.
As he was acting in 1989 he went back to America and the entered pop music world again. In the same year he released the album "Manners & Physique" with Andre Cymone a former member from the Prince's band. Later he signed a contract with EMI.
