Abigail Breslin was born in New York City, New York, U.S. She is the daughter of Kim, who takes care of her career and Michael Breslin, a telecommunications expert, computer programmer and consultant. She is named after the First Lady of the United States Abigail Adams.
She has acted in movies like Signs (2002); Raising Helen, The Princess Diaries 2: Royal Engagement, Keane, Chestnut: Hero of Central Park and the Family Plan. She has also given a guest appearance in the TV show NCIS in 2004. In the TV show NCIS she played the role of a Navy Captain's blind daughter. In 2007 she was nominated for the Screen Actors Guild Award and Academy Award
for Best Supporting Actress. She was 10 years old when she was nominated for the awards and she is fourth youngest actress to be nominated for the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actress.
