He has many nicknames, which include, Pinesol, King and King of the Backstroke. His is 6 feet and 4 inches tall. He holds the world record for the 100 and 200 meter backstroke and 400 medley relay race. In 2004, he was awarded the gold medal in Men's 100 Meter Backstroke and Medley relay in swimming as well. In 2000, at Sydney, he won the silver medal for the Men's 200 meter backstroke in swimming.
