Aamir Khan

Aamir KhanAamir Khan (full name Aamir Hussain Khan) was born on March 14, 1965 to Tahir and Zeena Hussain Khan and he is known as the PET-SHOP boy of the bollywood.

Biography and Career :

Aamir Khan has one younger brother Faizal who is a VJ and an Actor and two sisters Nikhat and Farhad.

Aamir Khan was married to Reena Dutt and having two children son Junaid and daughter Aira. But in 2002 he was legally separated with his wife.

Aamir Khan, is known as AK everywhere, although his first movie was Holi, but his debut film as a Hero Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak turned out to be a blockbuster of 1988 and set a new trend in cinema. In 1996, Aamir Khan has got the Best Actor award for his outstanding performance in Raja Hindustani which was a smash hit at the box office and he has placed himself among the top heroes of the Bollywood. Sarfarosh and Dil Chahat Hai were again the blockbuster films. He has got the best actor award for Dil Chahata Hai. This movie created a new trend of hairstyle and beard for youngster.
Aamir Khan set trends with every film, including his last film Lagaan His next release will be The Rising in which his character name is Mangal Pandey.

Aamir Khan was born into a film-industry clan. His father Tahir Hussain is a producer; his uncle Nasir Hussain was a director. Aamir Khan has acted in a few films directed by his cousin Mansoor Khan. Aamir Khan is the brother of Faisal Khan, with whom he acted in the 2000 film Mela.

Aamir Khan began his career as a child-actor in the film Yaadon Ki Baraat (1973), when he was eight years old. He acted and wrote the screenplay for the film Hum Hain Rahi Pyaar Ke (1993). He has also done playback singing for himself in the successful film Ghulam (1998).

Aamir Khan is known for his efforts to create believable characters, rather than just playing himself in film after film. Aamir Khan will go to great lengths to give a convincing portrayal - including, it is said, drinking heavily in order to play a drunken scene in Raja Hindustani (1996), even though he doesn't drink in real life. His memorable characters include:

- Raj, the lover (Qayamat Se Qayamat Tak)
- Amar, the inept schemer (Andaz Apna Apna)
- Aakash, the college Lothario (Dil Chahta Hai)
- Munna, the street tough (Rangeela)
- Bhuvan, the village idealist (Lagaan)
- ACP Rathod, a crusading police officer, (Sarfarosh)
- Siddharth , a fiery young boxer (Ghulam)
- Raghu Jaitly, an affable news reporter (Dil Hai Ke Manta Nahin)
- Mangal Pandey, a fierce opponent of the British Raj (Mangal Pandey)
- DJ , the cheerful youth (Rang De Basanti)

Aamir Khan is also known for working on only one film at a time, unusual in the Bollywood film industry, because he wants to give his best to each film. Detractors say that his penchant for perfection sometimes leads to clashes with directors who don't listen to his objections or let him re-shoot a scene he thinks sub-par.

Aamir Khan's reputed perfectionism seems to have paid off for his first foray into film-production, Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India. This film was a big box-office success in India and was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film, 2001.

Aamir Khan's Latest Movies :

-Aamir Khan's latest movie, due to release on May 26, 2006, is Fanaa, co-starring Kajol, who is breaking a long self-imposed sabbatical from the movies. The film will be the first time Aamir Khan and Kajol are paired together romantically.

-Rang De Basanti, released in January 2006, is a contemporary patriotic tale. The movie has broken box office records in many cities in India and has done well outside India.

-Aamir Khan's 2005 release was the The Rising which was to be made in both, English and Hindi, but was later completed only in Hindi. He played the role of Mangal Pandey, a sepoy in the army of the British East India Company and a leader of the Indian rebellion of 1857 (which the British called the Indian Mutiny). The movie released on August 12, 2005. The film did fairly well at the box office, but did not match the success of Lagaan.

Quotes :

"Every film I do means a lot to me. The failure of Mela, definitely made a difference to me. I am not comfortable with the idea of my films not releasing to their full potential."

"You really have to believe in what you're doing and the way you're doing it. And above all, you have to enjoy yourself. That's the way it is with me."

“When and if my son Junaid is asked the question, which religion do you belong to; I’d like to teach him to reply, “the human race”. And which region? Maharashtra, Therefore he is a Maharashtrian. And which nationality? Indian.”

"I'm not looking for anything in a particular script. When I'm reading a script, I become the audience, and if what I read moves me and excites me and I really love listening to or reading the script, then that is the script I choose to do. It's all instinct."

"I know that Vikram had not given a single hit till Fareb is well. But flops do not imply that he is not a capable director."
