Gloria Estefan (birth name Gloria Maria Milagrosa Fajardo) was born on the 1st of September 1957 in Havana, Cuba and is a great musician and actress.
Biography and Career :
She had attended the University of Miami and the Our Lady of Lourdes Academy Catholic School in South Miami, Florida.
She lost her father who died of suspected exposure to agent-orange.
Her career started as a singer in the band "The Miami Latin Boys" which changed its name into Miami Sound Machine.
They were successful but at one point she decided she wanted and could do more than that.
In 1989 she released her first album called “Cuts Both Ways”.
Besides this album she released another nine, “Into the Light”, “Mi Tierra”, “Hold me, Thrill me, Kiss me”, “Abriendo Puertas”, “Desti
ny”, “Gloria!”, “Alma Caribeña”, “Unwrapped” and “90 Millas”.
On the 2nd of September 1978 she married Emilio Estefan Jr. the couple has two children: Nayib and Emily Marie.
During her music career she has won three Grammy Awards.
Other awards she received are the Hispanic Heritage Award, an MTV Video Music Award, two cable television ACE Awards and the 1993 National Music Foundation’s Humanitarian of the Year award.
As an actress she appeared in movies like “Music of the Heart” and “For Love or Country: The Arturo Sandoval Story”.
