Thom Fitzgerald was born in 1968 and he is a writer and director. His movies include "The Hanging Garden" (1997), "3 Needles" (2005), "Beefcake" (1999), "The Event" (2003), and "Cloudburst" (2010).

Fitzgerald has won many international film prizes and nominations, from the Berlin International Film Festival, Toronto International Film Festival, The Academy of Canadian Cinema, the U.S. Academy of Television Arts and Sciences, among others. Three of his films premiered at the Sundance Film Festival.

He was born in New York, raised in New Jersey and has resided most of his adult life in Nova Scotia.
