Sheila Escovedo, popularly known as Sheila E., is a famous American musician who is best known for her works with Prince and Ringo Starr. She was born on December 12, 1957 in Oakland, California, USA.

Biography and Career:

Being the daughter of percussionist Pete Escovedo, Sheila performed many times with her father. Her recording debut was with Alphonso Johnson. The first recording was Yesterday's Dream" in the year 1976.She is a drummer, percussionist and she palys guitar, violin too. In her early twenties she has already played with famous singers like Lionel Richie,George Duke, Herbie Hancock, Marvin Gaye, and Diana Ross.

Prince and Sheila at a concert in the early 1980s . The worked together during the Purple Rain recording sessions. In the year 1983-84 , she provided vocals to "Erotic City", "Let's Go Crazy". She was a successful artist even though she stayed under Prince's wings. Her The Glamorous Life hit 7 on the Hot 100. The Belle of St. Mark" was another polular music by her.

She released Romance 1600 in 1985. "A Love Bizarre" was yet another hit. She was nominated for Grammy and American Music Award for "The Glamorous Life". During the Sign o' the Times, Black Album Lovesexy periods of Prince's career (including the Lovesexy World Tour), Sheila E. served as his drummer and musical director in his highly regarded backup band. She left Prince's organization in 1989 and then recorded few more albums like Writes of Passage, Sex Cymbal and Heaven but these failed to attract attention.
