Rosey (real name Nancy Joy Kaye) was born on September 15, 1972, in Stamford, Connecticut.
Biography and Career:
Both her parents and grandparents were in the music industry; her mom and dad were singers, while her grandparents were known musicians in the '40s. Being surrounded by music, she was deeply interested in it from an early age. She liked the sound of The Beatles.
She entered the Emerson College in Boston. There she performed on the college radio station and tested a variety of genres. She also worked with music labels in Los Angeles and NY.
Her musical career truly began its journey once she began playing the guitar. The
n, Rosey relocated to San Francisco. There she formed a band and performed in restaurants across the city. Gradually, her band got opportunities to play at famous venues like Bimbo's and The Bottom of the Hill. Later on, she moved to New York and played hot venues like Spy and the Mercury Lounge. Her first success came when her popularity at these gigs earned her a record deal with Island Def Jam. Under their label, Rosey released her debut album "Dirty Child" in 2002.
Some of tracks were also featured in movies and TV shows. Her single "Love" found its place in the soundtrack of Bridget Jones's Diary, starring Rene Zellweger.
