Lara Logan was born on March 29, 1971, in Durban, South Africa.
Lara began her career in journalism when she was 17. In 1988, she joined Sunday Tribune in Durban and then moved to Daily News. In 1992, she graduated in Commerce from the University of Natal and also pursued French, history and culture from Universite de L'Alliance Francaise in Paris. Next, she joined Reuters in Johannesburg as a producer.
But that job didn't last long owing to conflicts and Lara Logan decided to move to London. There she began a career as a freelance journalist. She worked for channels like ITN, Fox, CBS News, NBC News, European Broadcast Union and ABC News. In 1998,
she worked as a freelancer for CNN. She covered Tanzania, Nairobi and Kosovo.
In 1999, Lara left CNN and joined the show GMTV on British ITV and covered Zimbabwe, India and Mozambique. In November 2001, she covered the war in Afghanistan.
In 2002, Lara Logan joined 60 Minutes II on CBS News. She also grabbed the Gracie Allen Award that her for her reporting in the CBS.
In 2006, Laura was promoted to the rank of chief foreign correspondent in CBS News and was sent to Iraq. In 2008, she was made the chief foreign-affairs correspondent in June 2008. She has also won numerous awards for her journalism.
