Katherine MacGregor was born on 12th January, in Glendale, California, in 1925.
Biography and Career
Born Dorlee Deaene MacGregor, Katherine was probably best known for her performances on the television series 'Little House on the Prairie' (1974). In the series, she portrayed a nasty, greedy, gossiping and arrogant lady going by the name of Mrs. Harriet Oleson. This role was endearing and onerous to children and adults alike, as her audiences watched her good performances of self-aggrandizement.
Although she was a permanent cast, she was not able to appear in the final feature length episode 'The Last Farewell' (1983), as she was on a pilgrimage to India.
A broadway and stage actress before her television debut, Katherine was working in Broadway, as well as regional th
eatres in and around New York City. This was before she moved to Los Angeles in 1970. After 'Little House on the Prairie', Katherine had withdrew from screen productions and had went back to her roots in local theatre.
Katherine was briefly married to Bert Ramsen, another actor/casting director, in 1949. It was not known when they divorced, but Bert Ramsen was re-married in 1958. They never had children.
She is currently residing in the Hollywood Hills, and is still writing, directing and producing occasionally for a Children's Theatre Group called 'The Wee Hollywood Vedanta Players'

I just want to say, that Mrs. Macgregor is a very talented and gifted person whom I have grown to love over the years. I just wish that I could have seen more of her in more movies. God bless you and continue to doing what you're doing.
